PLURALITY

What is plurality? The simplest explanation is that plurality, sometimes called multiplicity, is the experience of being more than one mind or soul inside one body. There are many ways this can be expressed— for some, it’s being almost one person with many “facets”, and for others, it’s being completely separate people sharing the body.Plural/multiple groups often refer to themselves as a household, collective, or (most often) a system. There is no one known cause of plurality. Trauma is one of the most commonly known causes, but there are other explanations some describe, including other psychological causes, intentional or unintentional creation, spiritual causes, and more. The most well-known form of plurality is Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), and Other Specified Dissociative Disorder (OSDD). DID/OSDD are diagnostic labels in the DSM used to describe dysfunctional or disordered plurality. It is often a result of trauma. Not all plurality is disordered, and not all disordered plurality is diagnosed as DID/OSDD; it can be difficult to get a diagnosis even if it would be helpful, however, due to a lack of educated mental health care professionals and a frequent inability for people to access comprehensive, compassionate, and affordable care. There are many terms for system origins, types, and how systems present themselves, but we will not list those here. We don’t feel like origin terms matter, in the end. They usually only lead to division within the community— we would rather advocate for unity and acceptance of plurality as a whole. Society often considers plurality to be fake or, if real, a dangerous mental illness. Plural advocacy fights to combat those misconceptions, as well as abuse the community often suffers at the hands of the psychiatric industry. Our system is called the Lunastus Collective. We have existed since 1988. We describe ourselves as a large, coconscious system made up of a variety of humans and nonhumans from all walks of life. We believe we had lives before coming here, in other worlds and times that existed at one point. While we do have a history of trauma, we feel certain we would have been plural anyways. Plurality, for us, saved our life and we have no desire to be any less than who we are— a family of misfits and rogues trying to find our way through life, together. For more information, see the following websites:More Than OneDissociative InitiativeThank you/you& for reading.

OUR SYSTEM

While it’s impossible for us to list all of our system members here, we are pleased to introduce our system administrators. They oversee the system as a whole, and are usually within reach at any given time.

Name: Azazel.
Age: Millions (chronologically), late 30s (appearance).
Species: Fallen angel/demon.
Pronouns: She/her.
Info: Supernatural fictive. Noncanon. Angel who chose to follow Lucifer to Hell, where she became it’s ruler. Tried to stop the apocalypse, and adopted a few dipshit cuties along the way. It’s a long story. Currently the system leader, as of 2012. Mom, benevolent dictator, and notorious flirt.

Name: Smith.
Age: ~90 (chronologically), mid 30s (appearance).
Species: Mutate.
Pronouns: He/they.
Info: Captain America: The First Avenger fictive. Very, very noncanon. Not a nazi, and supports punching all of them. Was trying to stop the war from the inside, and it went horribly wrong. (But still has his face, so hey.) Dad, spreadsheet extraordinaire, and in charge of everything financial.

Name: Taita.
Age: Over 80 (chronologically), late 20s (appearance).
Species: Augmented human... mostly?
Pronouns: He/him.
Info: Space pirate overlord and general bastard. Collector of lost souls, thief, Leo sun/rising/moon/venus. A little queer. Probably some eldritch creature. In charge of organization and self-care since his arrival in late 2016.

Name: Gwen.
Age: Early 30s (chronologically), early 20s (appearance).
Species: Human.
Pronouns: She/her.
Info: Secondary original, born here with the primary original (now gone) as a “past life gone rogue”. Originally lived during Arthurian times. Not THAT Gwen— but her half sister. Doesn’t front much, is in charge of childhood memories.

Name: Zar.
Age: Old as dirt immortal (chronologically), early 30s (appearance).
Species: Fallen deity.
Pronouns: He/him.
Info: Arrived in 1990 as the system’s first fictive. (No, he won’t tell you where from.) He is in charge of a variety of things, but mostly counsels other system members.
